About Safe Driving School

Safe Driving School is a Michigan Secretary of State certified driving school. We provide the state-required Segment 1 driver education program consisting of 24 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.

This course gives students the foundational knowledge and basic skills needed to obtain a Level 1 Learner’s License. It allows parents/legal guardians to continue working with their student to complete required supervised driving hours, attend Segment 2, and eventually obtain a full license.

**IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER – PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY**

Safe Driving School teaches only the state-mandated minimum requirements. Successful completion of our program does NOT mean the student is a fully trained, experienced, or safe driver. Driving is a complex skill that requires extensive additional supervised practice, real-world experience, and ongoing parental guidance.

It is the sole responsibility of the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to:

  • Provide the majority of the student’s supervised driving practice (Michigan strongly recommends at least 50 hours total, including nighttime driving).
  • Continuously evaluate the student’s skills, judgment, and maturity.
  • Determine when the student is truly ready for the state road test and full independent driving.
  • Arrange any additional training if needed.

Safe Driving School and its instructors are not responsible for ensuring the student’s overall readiness, nor do we guarantee that the student will pass the state road test, obtain a license, or avoid accidents or violations after leaving our program. Any driving that occurs outside of scheduled lessons with our certified instructor is entirely at the discretion and risk of the parent/guardian and student.

We are happy to offer private behind-the-wheel lessons for students who need or want extra practice and instruction.

By enrolling, you acknowledge that you understand and accept these responsibilities as the parent or legal guardian.
